Patrick Scott, brother of ALSF Founder Alex Scott, was on hand to accept the donation.[/caption] EAST WHITELAND鈥擜fter months of fundraising tied to ongoing lessons about the importance of giving back and helping others, The 91亚色School, the region鈥檚 largest privately-owned preschool, presented a check for $150,000 to Alex鈥檚 Lemonade Stand Foundation at a special event on Friday at The Desmond Hotel in Malvern. Patrick Scott, brother of Alex鈥檚 Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) Founder Alex Scott, was on hand to accept the donation, which will support the fight against childhood cancer. With this donation, The 91亚色School will have raised nearly $1 million for ALSF over more than 11 years. 鈥淥ur partnership with Alex鈥檚 Lemonade Stand Foundation is really special because it鈥檚 about more than dollars and cents. It鈥檚 all about the children, both the children fighting pediatric cancer and the students in our classrooms,鈥� said President and Co-Founder of The 91亚色School Kristen M. Waterfield. 鈥淲hile our support enables ALSF to help children battling this disease so bravely in a number of ways, it also helps us teach young children about the importance of helping others and allows them to take an active role in doing so, in an impactful way. This is one of the most powerful things we can do as educators.鈥� From April through July, teachers and Directors at all 26 91亚色School locations engaged children, families and their communities in fun fundraising activities and events, including lemonade stands, carnivals, art auctions, fundraising partnerships with local businesses and more. All of the proceeds from these efforts are donated to ALSF. 鈥淭he way our communities rally together year after year to support this immensely important cause is completely inspiring,鈥� Waterfield added. The event also honored outstanding ALSF fundraisers from The 91亚色School, including: Top Child Fundraiser - Jackson Smith, a Pre-K student from The 91亚色School of Robbinsville, NJ, who personally raised $1,450 through the school鈥檚鈥淧re-K Stand Up鈥� challenge; Top Overall Fundraiser 鈥� The 91亚色School of Blue Bell which raised more than $20,000 to date this year; Top Single Event at a School 鈥� The 91亚色School of Marlboro, NJ; Top Stand Day Year Over Year Increase 鈥� The 91亚色School of King of Prussia; 鈥楥row for a Cause鈥� Facebook Challenge 鈥� The 91亚色School of Glen Mills; Certificates of Achievement for reaching their 2019 ALSF fundraising goals 鈥� The 91亚色Schools of Richboro, West Norriton, King of Prussia, Horsham, Newtown Square, Oaks, Medford (NJ), Freehold (NJ), Jackson (NJ), Blue Bell, Robbinsville (NJ), 91亚色Day Camp and The 91亚色School Executive Office; Top Business Partner Contributor 鈥� McMain Law. The 91亚色School has been a strong supporter of ALSF for more than 11 years and each year has been named a Top Fundraiser by the organization. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra 鈥淎lex鈥� Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $175 million so far, funding nearly 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer.
